Since junior year of high school (I graduated in 2011) I have been chasing, praying, worrying, about, and planning for life, career, school. I have been so discontent because in my heart I always wanted to be wife and mother and be home with my babies, but in my mind I thought I had to do something else and be someone else. I always thought that being a mom wasn’t enough. In school they didn’t teach that being a stay at home mom was an option.
But I’m here today with my handsome husband and two babies to say that God can do incredibly beyond what you can imagine! In the book of Esther a beautiful and kind Hebrew woman is chosen to be queen after the king’s wife refuses to come to him. Once Esther was queen, she heard from her cousin, who raised her, that the king’s chief official was plotting to kill all Hebrews. Mordecai, her cousin, urges her to save the Israelites by saying, “Perhaps you were made queen for such a time as this,” ( Est . 4 :14). Esther used her beauty and position to appeal to the king to not kill the Hebrews, and it worked! Esther was queen to be used by God to save his people. Just like Esther, you and I have a purpose.
God has predestined a plan and purpose for each of us. For some women it is a career, service, a gift or talent, and for others it is motherhood.
I was born for such a time as this! I am raising godly boys, who will one day be mighty men of God. This is my for “such a time as this.” For those of you who would say that my identity should not be just in my kids, I agree, but that’s not what I am getting at. It is enough for me to be a mom! If this is your high calling too, it is enough for you to be a mom and stay home. If you can live off your husband’s income, stay home! Your kids need you, and you need to be obedient to what God has for you! It is so hard to be disobedient and strive for something that is not meant for you. I give you permission to mommy on! I’m doing it, you can too!
